Vivos Therapeutics at the NIBA Conference

A few months ago in March, Vivos Therapeutics, one of the world leaders in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea had the pleasure of being a featured presenter at the National Investment Bankers Association (NIBA) conference which was held in New York City at the Westin Hotel in Times Square. Presenting at this conference was their chief executive officer, R. Kirk Huntsman, and Ed Loew, who is the senior vice president, and capital markets and investor relations.

Vivos has been deploying a highly effective, interdisciplinary clinical treatment for those who are suffering from mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea, and this treatment features their proprietary line of unique oral appliances. This condition affects about 29 million adults daily and there is also an additional 22 million children that could be at risk. It is most common amongst men, especially middle-aged and overweight men. In fact, in totality, one in every seven Americans suffer directly from sleep apnea.

The Vivos System, developed by Huntsman and his co-founder Dr. Dave Singh is a breakthrough technology and treatment for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and could possibly be the first legitimate long-term solution to addressing the major root cause of the disorder which is an underdeveloped or obstructed airway. The majority of solutions to OSA look to treat the symptoms through pressure or force. Vivos, on the other hand, gently remodels the upper airway by slowly developing and repositioning the jaws which restore healthy sleep and breathing. Plus, many of the common treatments like CPAP require lifetime use and nightly wear, whereas the Vivos System usually lasts 12-24 months and allows patients to avoid any further clinical intervention.

According to Huntsman, “As we strive to bring the Vivos System to more people across the country, thus positively impacting the lives of apnea sufferers and their families, we believe it is critical to bring information about the company to the investing community. That is partly how we will be able to bring relief to millions of OSA patients, both diagnosed and as yet undiagnosed.”

Why Should You Choose Vivos?

Vivos Therapeutics is one of the companies leading the charge to find a long-term cure to the sleep disorder, obstructive sleep apnea. So, why should you choose Vivos for your treatment? Let’s take a look at what it is trying to cure.

To begin, we should understand what healthy breathing entails. Normal breathing involves silent breathing through your nose, and it is quiet and effortless. This is what allows our bodies to go into the usual deep and restorative sleep and then wake up refreshed and ready to tackle the day. However, when you are snoring or experiencing sleep apnea, that is not healthy. Normal breathing is critical to leading a vibrant life; unfortunately, there are millions of people around the world who are unable to breathe normally, especially at night.

The problem with those suffering from these conditions is that a surprising number of them have failed to consult a professional about these concerns. What’s worse is that sleep apnea has been linked to multiple other serious health conditions and is possibly life-threatening. Some of the other conditions associated with obstructive sleep apnea include hypertension, diabetes, asthma, anxiety, depression, hypothyroidism, obesity, fibromyalgia, amongst others.

One of the leading causes of obstructive sleep apnea is a narrow and compromised airway. Recent research has shown that many health conditions can be traced to someone’s inability to breathe normally during their sleep. This is where the Vivos System comes into to play as it works to correct these problems in the airway. It is a non-evasive, and typically pain-free approach. Treatment outcomes may vary based on a number of factors. It is important that if you or a loved one are experiencing any of these symptoms, you should seek the help of a consultation with a Vivos Certified Provider to see how Vivos could help. Understanding the Signs of Sleep Apnea Part 3: Hypertension

Hypertension and obstructive sleep apnea often go hand in hand, so it’s important for those with elevated blood pressure to know the signs of OSA since these two conditions often come as a pair.

OSA occurs when breathing is repeatedly and briefly disrupted during sleep and has been linked to high blood pressure. Elevated blood pressure levels have also been shown to cause sleep apnea or to worsen breathing in patients who already have OSA.

Sleep apnea occurs when a snorer stops breathing for a brief amount of time. These episodes can wake the individual as they take in a gasp of air. All of this leads to restless nights, a loss of sleep, and can also be associated with arrhythmia, stroke and even heart failure.

According to a recent study, OSA is most commonly found in middle-aged adults between the ages of 30 and 70. The disorder affects more men than women, and many of those who suffer from both maladies are also overweight.

Although anywhere from 30 to 70 percent of patients with hypertension may also have OSA, it more frequently occurs in those who have resistant hypertension and have unsuccessfully tried a number of treatment options to bring their blood pressure numbers to a more normal level.

The good news is that Vivos Therapeutics provides treatment for both OSA and hypertension. These services seek to ensure that your breathing passages are open with oxygen flowing, so that blood pressure levels can come down quickly.

Blood pressure levels normally dip at night and this dip does not occur in patients with OSA.

Getting a good night’s sleep is one of the keys to overall good health and normal blood pressure levels. There are a few steps to you can take to ensure you get a restful night of sleep:

  1. Get some exercise, but get that workout in a few hours before you go to bed so your adrenaline levels come down before you turn the lights out.
  1. Limit alcohol consumption and avoid caffeine before bed.
  1. Develop a pre-bedtime routine such as a hot bath; dimming the lights; and turning off unnecessary electronic devices.
